Holly and the wonderful Mrs. Hollander!

Holly loves to act. Mrs. Hollander, a teacher at Holly's school, talked to me about the 2 week summer theatre program that she was going to be doing while we were off from school. She thought it would be a great thing for Holly and I couldn't agree more. Holly was so excited to be in the summer theatre and also to have her best friend Paige be able to attend too. Paige and Holly were in Kindergarten and First Grade together. They became best friends and we have become great friends with their whole family. Paige had to go to a new school that is closer to her house this year so Holly has missed her so much. Holly's friend Josh was in the program too. The play was called Gold Dust or Bust and the kids were involved in every aspect from learning the lines and the songs, to writing commercials, to making posters and scenery. It was a great experience for them. The play was a musical. The girls were required to wear a bonnett and an apron so I made both Holly and Paige both items and then I thought it would be cute if they had a little sundress that matched their bonnett. I am glad that I did they looked super cute! After the play there was a Cast Party. I made dirt cake for the kids. Dirt cake is chocolate pudding topped with crushed up Oreo cookies. We then topped that off with some gummy worms. The kids had a blast.

Before it was time for us to leave Holly wanted to get her picture taken with Mrs. Hollander. I took the picture and then I saw Mrs. Hollander whisper something to Holly and then Holly started to jump up and down with so much excitement. I asked her what she was so happy about and she yelled " Mrs. Hollander is going to be my teacher next year for sure!" I was so happy and relieved to hear this. Holly and Mrs. Hollander became friends during First Grade. She told Holly to have me write a letter requesting her to be in her class. I did this in February of this year. Holly's Second Grade teacher also requested the placement into Mrs. Hollander's class. The one thing with class placement is that nothing is ever for sure until the end so I am very excited to have this happen for Holly. Now we have a couple weeks left before school starts up again. We can enjoy it knowing that she has the best Third Grade teacher ever!
