I'm home......

Well after a wonderful few days away from reality we are back home. We had a great time at the race track. We got to enjoy everything from practice to qualifying to truck racing to the main event on Sunday. The weather was really nice too. It did end up sprinkling a bit on race day but it didn't stop the race. We saw Dale Jr.'s pit box all ready and waiting for his crew to be working around it as well as his crew chief, car chief and owner working on top of it. We really enjoy our pit passes. We get to check everything out up close. I love this.It gets very crowded on race day as you might guess. At one point I turned around and nearly bumped right in Kurt Busch. I was able to get a picture of him up close. A bit further down pit road we saw one of our favorite drivers coming out for drivers introductions. The picture is a bit on the blurry side but I only had a half of a second to get my camera up and take the picture of Tony Stewart. It was pretty exciting.

There was nothing that could top the excitement of qualifying day. I have been to the race many times and have never seen my favorite driver up close. I have only seen him from my seat through binoculars or my camera lens. Well not this time. I was standing byt the pit wall watching the cars qualify when he came out and over towards his car. There he was live and in person, Mr. Dale Earnhardt Jr. ! Well if you know me at all you know just how much I love this guy. I could hardly believe it. I was pretty excited but stayed very calm. I was actually taking pictures from my digital camera as well as from my 35 mm with my zoom lens. I haven't loaded those photos onto my computer yet so I used the ones from my digital camera for this post. There he is, you can see him. He is standing against the wall talking to the guy in the tan colored hat. Now I know this isn't a close up but it is him. Trust me I was about 25 feet away from him. This was really, really neat!

Chris and I love to go to the race here. This is a picture looking towards the infield. We have great seats!

Race day was great. We had such a nice time. I had my favorite driver tuned in on my scanner. I could hear everything that he and his crew and his spotter were talking about. It was awesome. My driver ended up having trouble with his engine which was sad. However a really nice driver won the race. He won his second race in a row too. Congratulations to Matt Kenseth!

We can't wait to get back to the track again. We are also looking forward to this racing season!
