Things have been pretty busy around here......

Things have been pretty busy around our house lately. August is usually a busy month because it is back to school time. We have been having a very good time. I am on the PTA board this year and we had to plan our ice cream social right off the bat. We all decided to give the social this year a theme. A 50's theme is what we came up with. I mean how can that not be a good thing right? Well the student council decided to have a 50's dress up day to coincide with our ice cream social. Holly is on the student council this year so she was hoping that I could make her a poodle skirt. I made her one in her very favorite color, red. She was so excited. I also made her a little red scarf with her initial painted on it. She was a very happy little girl and that of course made me a happy Mommy. She was having a blast at the ice cream social. She was dancing and hula hooping with all of her friends.

Let me tell you this girl can sure hula hoop. It is amazing to watch her keep that hoop up. She was having so much fun.

This was one of our signs advertising the ice cream social. It was a really big hit with everyone. People kept commenting about the theme and the music and all of the hula hoops we had out for the kids to use.

This is Holly before she left for school that morning. She was so happy.

School has been keeping her very busy. She loves it though. Her teacher is wonderful. It is the same teacher she had last year. Holly can't wait to get to school every morning and see what new and wonderful things she will learn about that day. Her teacher is wonderful about drawing the kids into the lesson.

Alissa has been very busy with band. This is her last year in high school so this is the last year for band camp. She was at camp from 9 am to 9 pm everyday for the week before school started. These band kids work so hard. We have a busy few months ahead of us with band competitions and practices. It is all worth it though. This picture is at the end of a practice when they are getting some instructions from the drum major.

Holly has also started soccer practice. They practice 3 nights a week. It has been so hot out and so right now the practices are not really any fun at all. There are also lots of mosquitos! The two of us have been getting so many bites. It is pretty miserable. She is just like me and they swell up.

She really enjoys soccer though. They have to run a lot this year. The coach is trying to condition the girls because they are moving up to a larger field this year. None of the girls enjoy running so much. We will be getting the uniforms next week. I have them but we have to wait until the end of the week to give to them to the girls just in case we get any more girls added to the team. The uniforms are really cute. They are baby pink and baby blue.

We have been having a relaxing weekend. It has been so hot here and we have stayed inside most of the time. Even going out to swim during the day is so hot. My parents came out this afternonn for a visit and they took us to dinner to celebrate my Birthday. We ate at my favorite restraunt, Mike's Roudhouse. We all had a great time. Now I must start to get ready for the busy week that lies ahead of me.
