Scholarship Award Day

Today we went to a place that means a lot to my family. We went to the CHP Academy. Alissa received a scholarship from the 11-99 Foundation. This foundation is fabulous to the CHP. They have a special ceremony in which the recipients receive a special certificate. The ceremony at the academy is very special. It starts with the Honor Guard presenting the colors. The CHP Commisioner was there and spoke to the crowd. The names of the recipients were annouced and they walked across the stage to receive their certificates. It was really nice. I love driving into the academy. There is a certain sense of pride that comes over me as we enter. Chris teases me sometimes telling me that he is sure that my blood would run blue and gold and not red. I just can't help it. I am very proud to be part of the CHP family.

Alissa is standing in front of the Memorial Fountain. The names of every CHP Officer that has lost their life in the line of duty is listed here. It is a very somber sight.

Chris poses here with Alissa. We are both extremely proud of her.

Tiffany is a past recipient of this scholarship award as well. She has received it 3 times. She did miss the application deadline this year so she was a bit bummed.

The area around the fountain has recently been updated, adding some seating area for people as they visit the fountain.

This is located in front of the front office. I enjoy walking through the office area. They have a CHP camaro as well as a couple different CHP motorcycles on display.

The Memorial Fountain bears the name plate of our friend. It is very sad to see it there. We always touch it and stay for awhile. We love him and miss him very much.

I LOVE this sign at the exit to the academy. It is absolutely without a doubt 100% TRUE!!!!!!!!!!
