It's beginning to look alot like Christmas......

Every year I go to my Mom and Dad's house and put up their Christmas Tree. It is something that I really love to do for them. I have been doing it for many years now. I really look forward to this. When I was growing up putting up the Christmas Tree was something that I loved to do. My sister, brother and I would wait for my Dad to put the lights on the tree and then we would help our Mom with all of the decorations. There was sort of a method to the whole thing. We would put on the Christmas records, yes they were records way back then. Let me say that they don't make Christmas songs like those from my childhood any longer. We would sing and then put the ornaments where we thought they should go. I am sure that my Mom did move some occasionally but she never would tell us. It was also a tradition in my family to have the colored lights, a wonderful assortment of ornaments gold garland and then the tree was topped off with fabulous silver icicles. I have carried over that same tradition in my family. I have several trees at my house but the main one in the living room is done like when I was growing up.

Holly and I went to my parents house and stayed overnight on Saturday. This way there was no rush in putting up the tree. I was all set to put on the famous Christmas records and then I noticed that the stereo would not turn on. We tried everything. It appears that the switch is finally broken. Now just so you know this stereo I am talking about is older that me. My parents had it delivered the day that President Kennedy was assasinated. Nobody listens to the stereo any longer, just me when I go to play the Christmas records. I was so bummed! I put on these CD's that she had there. Oh gosh, yucky!!!! The music was not nice at all, very untraditional. I told my Mom that I was planning on getting a turntable and that when I did I was going to borrow her records and record them. This way I can be assured of the traditional music from my childhood year after year as I do all of my holiday decorating. I love the holiday season. It makes me feel so happy.

Now I have the decorating of my own home to look forward too. This week begins the final countdown to Disneyland fun. I will be pretty busy getting ready for the trip as well as all of the Thanksgiving preparations. I will not have much of a chance to start any Christmas decorating here until we return from the Magic Kingdom. Ok so here we go 7 days and counting!!!!!!! I can't wait.
