Dayton here she comes!

I just got back from dropping Alissa off at the school for her trip to Dayton. She has been really excited about it. She is in the Winter Percussion Group at her school. She loves it. They did this same trip when she was a freshman and this time she is a junior. They will be competeing against some of the best percussion groups in the Country on Friday. If they make it to the finals after that then they will compete with the best of the best in the Country. They put so much time and energy into the show. The bus is pulling away here and the kids are so excited. They will be flying out of the Bay Area a bit later today. They have a very long day of travel ahead of them.

Alissa told me how heavy her suitcase wa. When I lifted it up into the van she was amazed that I didn't struggle with the weight of it. I told her it wasn't heavy to me but the suitcase is like half her size so it was no wonder why it was heavy to her. She just laughed.

As you can see she is extremely happy to be going on this trip. I have to say I felt pretty sad. When she gave me a hug goodbye I didn't want to let her go. This surprised me. She has made this trip before and I was fine. This time I am feeling sad. I guess it is because she is growing up.

Here she is performing last week in a special family performance. They had to practice timing just as if they were in the competition. It was fun. The show is so awesome! This group works so hard. They start rehearsals in December and go for a week of the vacation. they then practice Tuesdays and Thursdays fro 4 hours each as well as Saturdays from 9-5. Sometimes they throw in additional practices.

She really loves it though. She has a great rythym and is always really into the show. It is fun to watch her move around as she plays her instruments. She will be a senior next year and she is looking forward to that. Well I am looking forward to see how well they do this week. The schedule is FULL! They travel all day today and don't get to their hotel until late tonight but starting tomorrow they practice, practice, practice oh and did I say practice! They will also get to see a few World Class groups perform sometime in between. She won't be home until Sunday afternoon and she will be exhausted. So at this time I will just say " Go Beyer! You rock the house! "
