Yesterday Holly made her First Communion. It was a big day. She has been looking forward to this day for a long time now. She has taken all of her preparations very seriously. It is not just a given in our parish that a child make their First Communion. They have to prepare for this for 3 years. Most other Catholic Churches allow the kids to receive this sacrament in the second grade. It used to be the same way here but it changed a few years ago. Holly has spent much time learning prayers, taking tests and learning the proper order of the commandments. Finally the day came. She told me she had in her mind exactly what she wanted her dress and veil to look like. So we checked everywhere and she finally found her perfect dress and veil.
She looked very beautiful! She wanted me to take a picture of her by the pool before we left. I have to admit it made me a bit nervous doing that prior to leaving for church but it all worked out very well.
This is Holly with her very own Fairy Godmother, Carol. Holly has always called her fairy godmother. Carol is her Godmother but the funny thing to both Carol and I is that we love the movie Cinderella so much and that Holly actually calls her fairy godmother.
Here is Holly with her very best friend Paige and her sisters Ellie and Maddy. We love them all very much.
My nieces Olivia and Faith were having a great time. They were getting ready to eat lunch and then swim.

My little niece Miss Maddie Moo was having so much fun playing around with Ellies salt water sandals. She loved them.

My nephews Chase and Jack were having so much fun in the pool! The kids all had a great time playing, eating and swimming. The day flew by so quickly. Last night I put Holly to bed and she came into my room and was crying. I asked her what was wrong. She told me that this day was so special and she didn't want it to end. I told her that we had such a nice day and we have lots of great memories and we will have lots of great days ahead. Today she keeps saying yesterday at this time I was lining up, yesterday at this time I was doing this or that. I am glad she had so much fun. I am glad she loved it all so much. She told me that the whole day was perfect. I can't ask for more than that.

Holly looked so pretty! Her dress was beautiful! Looks like you guys had a great day, all your hard work paid off.
Forgot to say how cute that she enjoyed her day so much! See you stressed out for nothing when you were worried about it not being the same as the other girls!
I'm anxious to see what her first communion scrapbook page will look like :)
