Another Soccer Saturday..........

Holly getting set in the goal box......

Holly and her best friend Paige.....

Maddie, Holly and Ellie digging for treasure.......

Well we really look forward to Saturdays for many reasons, soccer being one of them. We had heard the weather reports during the week talking about the high chance for rain on Saturday. We did not get discouraged because unless the rain is really bad the girls still play. During the middle of the night I heard the rain. I got up to close my bedroom window and looked outside. It really was a welcome and beautiful sight. I love the rain and I love to listen to it while I am trying to go to sleep. There is something peaceful about it. When I woke up at 6:00 am and looked outside it was still raining. I just proceeded with getting ready before waking Holly up. When it came time to wake her up it was clearing and actually the sun was coming out. We got over to the soccer field and al was right with the world. The sun was out and it wasn't cold so we were good to go. As we proceeded onto the field that is when we felt the effects of the rain. It was wet, really, really wet. Water was flicking up as we walked but at least it wasn't too muddy or soggy that we sunk into the grass. The girls were pretty funny. Some of them were not concerned at all about the water. That was Holly. There were others who were very concerned and didn't like the drops flicking up onto their legs and all. Silly girls!!!! They are soccer players not princesses. Well right at this time they are soccer players and not princesses, they can go back to being princesses right after the soccer game. Holly was the goalie again. She really enjoys that position. Me not so much. It is very nerve racking to me to watch her trying to defend the goal. She loves it though. This weekend someone gave her some gloves to wear. With the wet water these were a good choice to help her control the ball. She loved them and now wants to get a pair of her own. I guess we will be off to the sporting goods store this week to check them out. Holly's team played an AWESOME game. They were in complete control of the field this week. This was a welcome change from last week. The girls are finally putting together all of the skills they have been working on in practice. The final score was Blue Lightning 5- 1 over the other team!

At the end of the game it started to sprinkle a bit. On our way home it actually started to rain pretty hard. We were thankful that we got our game in before the rain. We had a surprise in store for Holly and were hoping that the rain would stop. It finally did so I called to make sure about this surprise. When we heard that it was still ago we loaded up and went to our destination. It was another soccer field. It was not just any soccer field but it was where her best friend Paige was going to be playing. Nic, Paige's Dad, was actually coaching the team this week. Well let me just say Holly was so excited! We walked over to the field where the game was going to be played. Wow, what a BIG field. The goal box alone is about as big in size as 1/4 of our current field. The size and height of the goal is amazing. The field is so long too. This will be the size of the field Holly will be on next year. The girls were happy to see each other. Shortly after we arrivied Kayla got there with Ellie and Maddie. They had just come from Eliie's game where she played in the rain. I was so happy to see Kayla. I haven't seen her in awhile and I have missed her so much. We had a nice time. Paige's team played well and it was a close game. The final score was 2-1 and they unfortunately didn't win but at least we got to see each other and enjoyed it together. After all winning isn't everything but friends and family are.
