Changing of the flags......

The way it is now..... :- (In happier times.... :-)

How sad!!!! : - (

OK today was race day. Not just any old race day but race day in Talladega. Talladega is one of my very favorite tracks. It is the biggest track on the circut but also one of the most wild, anything can happen tracks. It is one of two restrictor plate tracks. I know many of you are not race fans but I have to post about this anyways. I had such high hopes at the start of the day. First of all I entered this contest awhile back through Amped Energy drink. It was for a chance to have your name ride on the car with Dale Jr. You had to make up a saying that you would put on his car. Well I got an email a few weeks ago that my entry was one of the ones chosen to ride on his car in todays race. I was so excited. I knew that there would be thousands of other names on the car as well. Well they chose 73,000 names. Mine was one of them! They sent me an email to show me exactly how it looked and where it was. I was so excited. Well during the second practice on Friday his right rear tire exploded sending him into the wall and it was not a pretty sight. I just knew that my one and only chance to have my name on Dale Jr.s car was all but gone. The team had to pull out a back up car. Well come to find out, Hendrick Motorsports had an identical car in the hauler to use as a back up car should they need too. Wow they are awesome. Dale Jr. started in the back of the field today, no worries because he is such an awesome driver that I knew he would be running up front in no time. He had a good day today. As usual I was back and forth on the phone with my friend Nic who has Direct TV and keeps it set up with Jr. for the entire race. He always lets me know exactly what is going on with the car and all. He is the best. I always love to see him at the front of the pack. He has a gift for restrictor plate racing. He had a great car today. Things were going pretty good when all of a sudden Carl Edwards got into the back of Greg Biffle and all heck broke loose. One car hit another and Jr. got caught up in this huge mess! They had to tow his poor wrecked car with my name on it right off the race track. : - ( I was so very sad. So all of this leads me to the sadest thing of all. We have a policy here that when your driver wins a race you get to fly his flag until another persons driver wins a race. So that being said my flag has been up for a very long time now and today we had to have a changing of the flag. Tony Stewart won the race and Tiffany likes him so down Jr.s flag came and up went Tony Stewarts flag. It was a sad, sad day as far as sports go. I felt so bad watching his car be towed away and then watching him sound so down in his interview but to see the changing of the flag right here in my own front yard had to be the worst. Oh well better luck next week.
