Well I will first say that Tiffany had good intentions but they had a bad, really bad outcome. You see normally we have to practically pull teeth to get her to do any of her chores. Well today she actually mowed the lawns, both front and back without being asked. It was a nice change not to have to ask her or tell her that this needed to be done. The lawns look nice. Well this is where the story goes wrong, bad wrong.
We were eating dinner when all of a sudden Tiffany jumps up and says something like " Uh Oh! Oooppss! " We looked at her wondering what she meant by that. She then said " The pool. I left the water running. Get OUT of my way, HURRY, HURRY!!!!!!!!" We were thinking there is no way she forgot to set the timer for the water. Well we were wrong. So very wrong. Our rule is that when we turn the water on to fill the pool you absolutely must turn on the stove timer. It is a very easy thing to walk inside and forget about the pool filling. Chris and I got up from the table well actually we sprung up from the table very afraid of what we were going to see in our back yard. Chris ran over to turn the water off and then we saw it. We gazed in amazement at it. Our pool was totally filled up to the very tippy top of the deck. The water had actually started to fill in the little seams between the concrete.
Tiffany claims that she started to fill the pool and then thought to herself that she really better put away the lawn mower before she does anything else. Last time she mowed the lawn she left the lawn mower out in the hot sun for days. Her Dad was not happy with that and she did have to listen to a lecture about how you don't leave the lawn mower out after you mow the lawn. You need to put the lawn mower away where it belongs. She did put the lawn mower away and then I guess just went inside of the house neglecting or forgetting to turn the timer on the stove. She proceeded along with her carefree lifestyle. Watching a movie with her sisters, text messaging her friends, laying around and taking it easy because she is so tiered. Basically the same thing she does everyday. This went on for about 3 hours and 45 minutes. Then something dawned in this college students brain. Uh Oh!! Oh No!!!! I left the water running in the pool.
I am thinking " What? Really you did WHAT!!!" While we were outside checking everything out we made sure to look over the fence to the house behind us. We are actually alot higher then they are. I was imagining water just pouring through the fence into their yard. All looks OK there. I felt a load of relief. The drain where the skimmer is located had water up and coming out of that as well.

Chris decided to lift the lid up to take a peek inside. We had Holly run up and get his flashlight. We found a little visitor inside. We found a dead toad. It looked like a small toad. Yuck!!!!!! I don't like surprises like that inside my pool skimmer. We continued to look around still reeling from our disbelief. We are so happy that our tuition money is going to such good use. I am hoping that she is not this forgetful with her school studies. She is the first person to let others know if they messed up or forgot something. That is why I find it sort of funny that this happened to her. Hopefully the next time she wants to get on somebody for being forgetful she will think back to the day she forgot about the running water and nearly flooded the yard.
